Attorney: Dale P. Smith

Born, July 27, 1953, Dale grew up in Warner Robins, Georgia where he graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1971. After graduation, he attended Middle Georgia College where he received his Associate of Arts in Political Science in 1974. From there he went on to the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science in 1976, a Master Degree in Public Administration in 1978, a PhD in Political Science in 1984 and a JD in Law in 1985. Following graduation from Law School in 1985, Dale located to Toccoa where he became an Associate with a local law firm then known as Adams, Clifton & Sanders. In 1988, he left "the firm", established his own law office and ran for the post of Chief Magistrate of Stephens County. On November 5, 1988, Dale was elected the first Republican candidate ever elected to public office in Stephens County, a position which was designated a non-partisan office in 1991 and one to which he has been re-elected four times since. Since coming to Toccoa, he has been a member and officer in various local organizations including but not limited to: Toccoa Jaycees, President; Stephens County Bar Association, President; BPOE, Chaplain; Cub Scout Pack 168, Cubmaster; Toccoa Rehabilitation Industries, Board of Directors, Treasurer; Toccoa Masonic Orders and an active member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church. Married to J. Lynne Smith and father of one son, Jared C. Smith, born in 1989, Dale's ties to his local community are both broad and deep.
